Emory Men's Tennis Continues Strong Play At ITA Regionals

The Emory men's tennis team continued its solid play during the second day of action at the ITA Regional Championships with three singles players and three doubles teams in the semifinals of their respective competitions.
Senior Elliott Kahler (Carrollton, GA), along with sophomores Eric Halpern (Rye Brook, NY) and Alex Ruderman (Basking Ridge, NJ), all notched a pair of singles wins en route to earning berths in the semis. Kahler opened with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Duncan Miller of Methodist University before winning a three-set marathon that stretched nearly three hours against freshman teammate Rafe Mosetick (Hinsdale, IL), 7-6, 2-6, 6-4. Ruderman met Chris Wootton of Mississippi College and posted a 7-5, 6-4 verdict before advancing, upending No. 2 seed and teammate Ian Wagner (Columbus, OH), 6-4, 6-3. Kahler and Ruderman will square off in one semifinal on Sunday morning. Halpern was the other Emory player to move through the bracket, defeating teammates Dylan Wright (Alpharetta, GA), 6-2, 6-1, and Nick Szczurek (Lemont, IL), 6-3, 6-3. Halpern's semifinal-round foe will be No. 1 seed Robert Kjellberg of North Carolina Wesleyan. Kjellberg advanced with verdicts over a pair of Emory players, Jackson Isaacs (Culver City, CA) and Will Adams (Indianpolis, IN).
The tandem of Isaacs and Szczurek earned their berth in the semis after beating teammates Will Adams and Eric Brinzenskiy, 8-3. They will clash with Kjellberg and Artsiom Prostak after the Bishops' duo topped Emory's Ruderman and Halpren. The other semifinal matchup will be an Emory affair of Mosetick and Eric Seidelman against Kahler and Wagner
Action at the Woodruff PE Center on the Emory campus begins on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
