Emory Men's Tennis Dominates at USTA/ITA Region Championships
The Emory men's tennis team continued its strong showing at the USTA/ITA South Region Championships on Saturday. Serving as the host for the Championships is the University of the South.
After the smoke had cleared following the second day of action, three Eagles find themselves in the semifinals of the Main Singles Draw while three Emory doubles teams have advanced to the semis in that portion of the event.
Sophomore Rafe Mosetick will meet defending ITA Region champion Robert Kjellberg of North Carolina Wesleyan in one semifinal while Emory juniors Ian Wagner and Eric Halpern will collide in the other semi. Mosetick picked up two wins on Saturday, topping teammate Nick Sczurek, 6-2, 6-3, and Duncan Miller of Methodist, 6-4, 6-4. Halpern earned his spot via a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over teammate Rocco English, 6-2, 6-2, while Wagner defeated Eagle Simon Lavoie-Perusse, 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles, Wagner and Mosetick will meet up with Halpern and Lavoie-Perusse in one semi while Emory's Jackson Isaacs and Ayush Bajoria will tangle with Kjellberg and Johan Ljungdahl.
