Jonathan Jemison Topped In NCAA D-III Singles Championships; Rubinstein & Spaulding In Quarters Of Doubles

Emory junior Jonathan Jemison saw his run in the NCAA D-III Men's Singles Championships come to an end on Friday when he dropped a quarterfinal-round match.

The unseeded Jemison saw No. 7 seed Sean Wei of Amherst advance to the semifinals following a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Jemison, who played his way to spring All-America acclaim following his two wins yesterday, closes out the season with an overall singles mark of 19-12.

Through three campaigns in the program, Jemison has compiled a career singles ledger of 73-23, with his victory total good for an 18th-place tie on the school's all-time chart.

The unseeded duo of senior Scott Rubinstein and junior James Spaulding won their opening match in the Doubles Championships Thursday evening, defeating the No. 3-seeded Whitman team of Robert Carter and Zachary Hewlin, 6-4, 6-2.  Rubinstein and Spaulding will face Chaz Downing and Daniel Levine of Carnegie Mellon in the quarterfinals on Friday in a scheduled 6:30 pm (EDT) start.
