Eagles Record Four Provisional Qualifying Times During Two Weekend Meets
The Emory University track and field team totaled four NCAA
provisional qualifying times and five school indoor records, while
in action at the Valentine Invitational and Tiger Paw Invitational
this weekend.
Emory's four provisional times came on Boston University's banked
track at the Valentine Invitational on Saturday. On the men's
side, senior Alex Greenhouse recorded a
provisional time of 48.87 seconds in the 400-meter dash, finishing
19th overall. Greenhouse also finished
10th in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.01 seconds,
a new school record.
The Emory men came close to recording two other provisional times
during the meet. Senior Tyler Faits' time of
49.43 seconds in the 400-meter dash was just .08 seconds off the
qualifying time, while the distance medley relay team of
Stephen Ellwood, Tyler Faits,
Alex Robin and Charles Meade
recorded a school-indoor record mark of 10:11.43, less than a
second away from the provisional mark.
The other three provisional times came from the Emory women,
starting with sophomore Alix Dyer, who finished
21st in the 400-meter dash with a school-record time of
57.78 seconds. Dyer was also part of the Eagles' 4x400-meter
relay team, along with Alisha Reynolds,
Hadiza Sa-Aadu, and Melanie Levy
which finished 11th with a provisional time and
school-record mark of 3:58.30. In the triple jump,
sophomore Lauren Attiah broke her own school
record with a distance of 11.65 meters, good for a provisional
mark.
Due to snow in the Atlanta area, the Eagles cut short their trip to
Clemson by a day. However, during the first day of
competition, Emory's top finishes were recorded by Everett
Bryant in the60-meter dash (7.36 seconds), Fritz
Hain in the 60-meter hurdles (8.54 seconds) and the
300-meter dash (37.28 seconds), Brad Pruente in
the long jump (6.04 meters) and Thomas Bright in
the weight throw (13.21 meters). On the women's side, Emory's
top finishers were Jasmine McCullough in the
