June 22, 2016 Mees, Williamson, Pietsch Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Three members of the Emory University Track & Field teams, Lukas Mees, Julie Williamson and Daniel Pietsch, were recognized as Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-Americans as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon. Mees was named to the First Team with Williamson and Pietsch earning spots on the second team. With his first team selection, Mees becomes just the seventh men’s track & field/cross country student-athlete in Emory history to garner Academic All-America First Team honors.
May 28, 2016 NATIONAL CHAMPION!! - Pietsch Wins 400m Dash Title on Day Three of NCAA Outdoor Championships Sophomore Daniel Pietsch became just the second Emory Men’s Outdoor National Championship ever on Saturday at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. Pietsch came-from-behind on the final stretch of the race to edge out Monmouth (Ill.)’s James Wilson by just .05 second to win the National Championship. Pietsch posted a school-record time of 46.92 in the event. The Kula, HI native is just the second ever Emory male athlete to be crowned an outdoor national champion, joining Troy Thompson who won the Triple Jump in 1995.

May 27, 2016 Emory Places Eight Student-Athletes on CoSIDA Cross Country/Track & Field All-District Teams The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released their 2015-16 Academic All-District teams in men’s and women’s cross country/track and field on Thursday afternoon with a total of eight Emory student-athletes being chosen. The Emory men’s team saw five athletes recognized in seniors Lukas Mees and Jacob Seigel and a trio of sophomores in Max Brown, Daniel Pietsch and Benjamin Rogin. On the women’s side, seniors Alexandra Aiello and Julie Williamson were selected as well as former cross country runner Elise Viox.
May 26, 2016 Mees, Women's 4x400m Advance to Finals on Day One of NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships Senior Lukas Mees and the women’s 4x400m Relay of freshman Dilys Osei, sophomore Julia Leventhal, freshman Ariana Newhouse and sophomore Erica Goldman all qualified for the finals in their respective events on Day One of the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.
May 25, 2016 Eagles Garner 29 All-Region Selections by USTFCCCA; Curtin, Harden Earn Coach of the Year Honors Head coach of the Emory University track & field teams, John Curtin, was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) the South/Southeast Regional Women’s Coach of the Year as announced by the organization late Tuesday afternoon. In addition, Assistant Coach Lance Harden was named the South/Southeast Regional Men's Assistant Coach of the Year while the Eagles garnered 29 All-Region selections by the association.

Spencer KohMen's Track & Field Senior Spencer Koh posted personal bests in both the javelin (52.82m) and pole vault (4.45m) this past Saturday at the Berry Field Day Invitational. Koh placed first in the javelin and his mark represented a new Emory season best and was the top mark posted in the UAA this season. In the pole vault, Koh's mark was a new Emory season best and was the fourth best mark in school history. He took third in the event. Koh registered a distance of 49.97 to place 19th in the event competing against Division I athletes. Adam RabushkaMen's Track & Field Emory University junior Adam Rabushka won a pair of individual championships and totaled three all-conference honors at the 2015 University Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. Rabushka won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.10 seconds, the best time of his career. He later captured the conference title in the 400-meter hurdles with a finals time of 53.86 seconds. It marked the second time in his career that he has won each event at the UAA Outdoor Championships. Rabushka also placed third as a part of the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team, earned all-UAA honors with a time of 3:21.16. James BassenMen's Track & Field Emory University senior James Bassen set a conference and school record in the javelin throw at the 2015 University Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Atlanta, Georgia last weekend. Bassen’s throw of 61.87 meters, the sixth-best in Division III this season, broke the previous school record set by Jake Wheeler in 2008 (61.08 meters) and the previous UAA record, set by Washington’ Keith England in 2009 (60.48 meters). It marked the second-straight season that he won the event at the UAA Championships, and the fourth-straight season he earned all-UAA honors in the javelin. Bassen added all-UAA honors by placing third in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.77 meters and third in the discus throw with a toss of 41.33 meters. Hu finished fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.03 meters, a .65-meter improvement on his previous career best and the third-best mark in the University Athletic Association this season. He added a 20th-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.88 meters, edging his previous career-best jump by a hundredth of a meter. Hoberman won the triple jump on Saturday with a career-best mark of 14.49 meters, the fifth-best in the program’s history and tied for the ninth-best in Division III this year. Earlier in the meet, he won the long jump with a mark of 6.66 meters, another career-best mark for the junior. He became just the fourth men’s athlete in the program’s history to sweep the horizontal jumps at the UAA Indoor Championships, joining Troy Thompson (1995, 1996 and 1997), Ian Francis (2012) and Mike Moserowitz (2013). Max BrownMen's Track & Field Emory University freshman Max Brown registered one of the top times in the mile run in school history at the Buccaneer Invitational, hosted by East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Brown finished fourth in the seeded mile run with a time of 4:16.91, the second-fastest time in the University Athletic Association this season and fourth-fastest in school history. The time was a 7.59 second improvement on his previous season best in the event. Facing mostly NCAA Division I competition at the meet, Delaney finished 40th in the event with a time of 1:58.77.
