Emory Cross Country Heads To JSU Foothills Invitational

Fresh off a strong performance at the Greater Louisville Classic last weekend, the Emory men’s and women cross country teams return to action when they compete at the 5^th Annual  Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational.  The Oxford Lake & Recreation Center in Oxford, Alabama, will serve as the site of the meet with the women’s 5k race starting at 10:00 a.m., and the men’s 8k competition at 10:45 a.m.

In addition to Emory, some of the other teams comprising this year’s field include Clayton State, West Alabama, Alabama A&M, host Jacksonville State and Tuskegee University.

The women’s side, ranked No. 1 in the Southeast Region and No. 34 nationally among Division III teams, are coming of a second-place finish out of 34 teams at the Greater Louisville Classic.  Senior Natalie Fenn and Sara Gelb highlighted the squad’s effort, crossing the finish line in 16^th and 24^th place, respectively, in the 287-runner field.

The men’s team, ranked fourth in the Southeast Region, claimed 24^th place in a talented field at the Louisville Classic.  The Eagles’ top finishers in that 8k race were sophomore Stephen Ellwood, who finished 86^th out of 328 entries and junior Geraint Davies, who concluded the event in 110^th position.
