Emory Women's Cross Country Runner-Up At Royal Cross Country Challenege
Results
The Emory University women's cross country team's entry into
the Royal Cross Country Challenge turned in a strong performance
Friday afternoon, registering a second-place finish out of 13 teams
in the Navy Race. The 5k competition was held in McAlpine
Park in Charlotte, NC, and hosted by Queens College.
With the Eagles' top-tier runners gearing up for the
UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday, the group hitting the
trail in the Cross Country Challenge totaled 52 points, second
only to Elon University's first-place mark of 44
points. The Citadel held down the No. 3 position with 59
points while Mars Hill (141 pts.) and Brenau (150 pts.) rounded out
the top five squads.
Freshman Emily Caesar paced the Emory pack with a time of 19:46.6,
good for third place overall in the 105-runner field.
Sophomore Maryclaire Regan was the second Eagle to cross the finish
line with her time of 20:03.8 placing sixth in the field.
Senior Jenny Feinberg was the third Emory contestant rank among the
top 10 overall runners, clocking in at 20:09.6, good for the No. 10
spot. Rounding out the Emory scorers in the race were
freshman Christina Cardy (20:17.5, 12th) and
junior Paulina Belsky (21:00, 25th).
