Kim Bandy Named Named Lousiville Slugger/NFCA Second Team All-American
2009
Division III All-America Team
Emory University senior Kim Bandy (Duluth, GA) has
been named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch
Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Team.
Bandy, the starting first baseman for the 24th-ranked
Eagles, was selected as a second-team All-American. This
season, Bandy helped Emory to an overall record of 32-12 and the
program's fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament bid.
Just one of two players to start all 44 games in 2009, Bandy
finished third on the team and sixth among University Athletic
Association players with a.401 batting average. She tied for first
on the squad and second among UAA performers with a slugging
percentage of .667, good for an eighth-place tie on the school's
seasonal chart. The owner of 18 multi-hit contests this year, she
tied for the team's lead with 59 safeties and topped all Eagles
with seven triples, tying the school's third-highest seasonal
total, and smacked five homers, second on the club.
Career-wise, Bandy ranks prominently in numerous school categories
including first in home runs (14), total bases (335) and stolen
bases (60). A starter in 171 of the 172 contests she
played in at Emory, her .396 career hitting average is good for the
sixth place on the school's list and she holds down the No. 3 spot
in hits (212), is second in triples (20) and third in doubles
(41).
Earlier in the season, Bandy was picked as a first-team honoree to
both the All-Atlantic Region and the All-University Athletic
Association Teams.
She becomes the fifth Emory player in program history to earn
All-America acclaim, joining Tamara Boggs (2001 & 2003), Mary
Nicol (2003), Emily Sunshine (2006) and Ali Braverman (2007).
