Emory Softball Lands Another Commitment for 2010-11
Emory head softball coach Penny Siqueiros has announced that
Claire Bailey (Henrico, VA) will be enrolling at
Emory in the fall of 2010 and be competing for the 2011 Eagles'
softball program.
Bailey joins the Emory program after a four-year career at Godwin
High School where she played for head coach Walter Pettus.
A versatile performer, she logged action at
shortstop, catcher, second base, third base and in the outfield
throughout high school and helped the program to three district
championships. As a senior, she hit .463 en route to
garnering district first-team honors and second team all-region
acclaim. She was tabbed as her team’s MVP and was the
Richmond Times-Dispatch Scholar Athlete of the Year for
her high school.
She has played travel ball for the Richmond Diamonds for the past
four years and helped that club to a top-24 finish at the ASA
“A” Nationals last year in Las Vegas.
Bailey also competed in volleyball for four years and was part of
three teams that captured regional crowns and two berths in the
Group AAA state semifinals.
"Claire is a versatile player who is capable of competing at a high
level at almost every position on the field,” Siqueiros said.
“Not to mention, she's also an Emory Scholar. I'm
thrilled she chose Emory."
