Emory Softball Welcomes Covenant College To Cooper Field
The Emory softball team will play its first home games in over a
month on Saturday (Apr. 3) when it welcomes Covenant College to
Cooper Field for a pair of contests. Action begins at 1:00
p.m.
Head Coach Penny Siqueiros and her squad stand 15-9 following a
split of a twinbill at Berry College last Saturday. After
dropping the opener by a 2-0 count, which snapped a five-game win
streak, the Eagles roared back in the finale to claim a six-inning,
9-0 win. Sophomore Jessica Thomas turned in
a huge offensive effort in the victory over the Vikings, socking a
pair of home runs and finishing with seven RBIs, the fourth-highest
single-game mark in school annals.
A check at the Emory stats reveals that senior centerfielder
Cassie Walsh leads the team in hitting with a .489
average with 43 hits in 88 trips to the plate. Walsh
currently claims a 22-game hitting streak and has registered 13
contests of multiple safeties in that stretch. Career-wise,
she is fourth all-time at Emory with her 208 hits just 12 shy of
tying for the No. 1 mark. Freshman first baseman
Ellen Kocoloski checks in with an outstanding .485
average and is tied with Thomas for the team lead for homers with
four. Thomas is hitting at a .366 clip and tops the club with
27 RBIs while tying for the lead with seven doubles.
