Emory Softball Enjoys Successful Senior Day
The Emory softball enjoyed a successful Senior Day on Saturday
as it defeated Georgia Perimeter College in both games of an
exhibition doubleheader. The Eagles posted a 2-1 win in the
opening affair before capturing a 2-0 decision over the Jaguars in
the second outing.
Between contests, the contributions of seniors Cassie Walsh,
Caitlin Fitzgerald, Jenna Lamoreaux and Marion Holland were
recognized. The four were making their final appearances at
Cooper Field.
In the first contest, sophomore Jessica Boni’s pinch-hit
single in the bottom of the sixth scored Zara Louy, snapping a 1-1
tie. Senior pitcher Marion Holland tossed all seven innings
and gave up seven hits while fanning five.
Sophomore Jaclyn Jacobi hurled a complete-game shutout in the
finale, surrendering just five hits and striking out one.
Emory scored single runs in the first and third frames with
freshman Ellyn Kocoloski and Caitlin Fitzgerald coming through with
RBI hits.
Emory returns to action on April 21 when it plays a twinbill at
Piedmont College starting at 5:00 p.m.
