Holloway Named UAA Softball Co-Player Of The Week
mory sophomore Bridget Holloway (Sparta, IL)
has been named the University Athletic Association Softball
Co-Player of the Week following her performance in helping the
Eagles to a 4-0 record in key games against Piedmont College and
LaGrange College. It is the first time in her collegiate career
that she has been tabbed for the honor. She shares this
week's award with Stacy Berg of Brandeis University.
Holloway picked up all four of Emory’s victories and in the
process raised her season record to 14-8. Holloway posted an
ERA of 1.02 after tossing 27 1/3 innings and striking out 13 while
allowing just 2 walks. She hurled complete games in all three of
her starts and picked up her fourth win after registering 6 1/3
innings of scoreless relief in a come-from-behind 4-3 win over
LaGrange College in the second game of a twinbill on April
16. She opened the week with a masterful one-hitter in a 4-0
triumph against Piedmont College (Apr. 14) in the first game of a
doubleheader and followed that with a seven-inning gem that saw her
give up just five hits while striking out five in a 6-1
triumph. She keyed an 8-3 win over LaGrange in the first
game, surrendering just six hits and recording a pair of
strikeouts.
So far this season, she has completed 17 of her 21 starts and has
whiffed 107 opponents in 149 1/3 innings of work.
Emory, 23-13 on the year, returns to action on Wednesday, April 21,
when it plays a doubleheader at Piedmont College.
