Emory Softball Drops Nailbiter To Maryville
The Emory University softball team came out on the short end of
a tough 6-5 game at Maryville College on Monday evening. The
setback left the Eagles’ record at 25-16 while the Scots
boosted their overall mark to 17-22.
Emory faced a 3-0 deficit after four innings of play but scored
three runs in the top of the fifth to tie things up. The key blow
in the inning was a two-run homer by Brittany Boeshore. The
Eagles pushed across two runs in the sixth and took a 5-3 lead when
Jessica Boni homered and Megan Fouse delivered a run-producing
single. However, Maryville responded with three runs in the
bottom of the frame with Alana Van Hoy’s two-run double the
key blow.
Emory plays its final regular season game of the year on Tuesday
(Apr. 27) when it battles Maryville in a 5:00 p.m. start.
