Cassie Walsh Named UAA Player Of The Week
Emory senior Cassie Walsh has been named the
University Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week
following her performance this past weekend in two games apiece
against Maryville College and Mississippi College. It is the
second straight week that she has earned the honor.
Walsh hit a team-leading .600 in the Eagles' four games, helping
the squad post a 2-2 record. Walsh collected nine hits in 15
trips to the plate and scored five runs. In addition, she was
successful on three-of-four stolen base attempts.
She enjoyed a big day on Saturday, going a combined six-for-eight
at the plate and scoring four runs. She went three-of-four
and crossed the plate on three occasions in a 9-4 win over
Maryville College before rapping out three more safeties and
scoring once in a 7-4 setback against Mississippi College.
She continued her hot-hitting ways on Sunday, registering three
hits in contests against Mississippi College and Maryville.
Included in her Sunday totals were two hits and one run scored in
a 9-1 triumph over Maryville.
Through eight games, she is hitting at a .525 clip with 13 hits in
25 at-bats and has scored a team-best six runs. She has
collected hits in seven contests and owns a six-game hitting
streak.
Heading into this weekend's action against Rhodes College and
Hendrix, Walsh holds down the No. 7 spot on the school's all-time
list with 178 hits and is eighth in runs scored with 113.
