Emory Softball Now 14-0 After Wins Over Lebanon Valley & Moravian

The 20th-ranked Emory softball came away with a pair of impressive wins on Thursday at the National Training Center in Orlando, Fla., recording a 5-1 triumph over Lebanon Valley and a 5-3 victory against No. 11-ranked Moravian College.  With the two wins, the Emory now stands 14-0 on the year.

Emory sophomore Ellyn Kocoloski picked up a couple of hits and knocked in three runs against the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley while freshman Megan Light socked a pair of doublewith one RBI.  Junior left fielder Jessica Thomas accounted for the team’s other run with a solo homer.  Freshman Lena Brottman notched her seventh win in as many decisions, tossing a complete-game four hitter that saw her strike out eight.

The Eagles continued their timely hitting against the Greyhounds of Moravian with junior catcher Jessica Boni delivering the big blow with a three-run double.  Thomas came through with a run-producing two-bagger while Light rapped out a pair of doubles.  Junior hurler Bridget Holloway went the distance in boosting her record to 7-0, fanning six batters.

Emory returns to action on Thursday (Mar. 10) when it opens the UAA Tournament with games against Case Western Reserve (10:00 am) and No. 19 Washington University (12:30 p.m.).  The Eagles enter this year’s tourney as defending champ after posting a 6-2 record last season.  For more information on the UAA with a complete schedule of games, click here.
