Emory's Brittany Boeshore Earns Softball Academic All-America Honors

Senior Brittany Boeshore (Suwanee, GA), a key member of the Emory softball team, has been recognized for her performance both in the field and in the classroom by being named to the 2011 Capital One Softball Academic All-America Third Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Boeshore helped the Eagles to an overall record of 41-4-1, playing in 34 games and drawing 29 starting assignments.  She concluded the year with a hitting mark of .326 with 31 hits in 95 plate appearances.  She hit four homers, including a walk-off round tripper in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 4-3 triumph vs. Piedmont (Mar. 23), and recorded seven doubles and 20 RBIs.  She finished with six multi-hit contests, including four contests of three safeties, and five contests of two or more RBIs.  She tied for the team's lead with 12 sacrifice hits and was successful on all seven of her stolen base attempts.

Academically, Boeshore distinguished herself  with a 3.94 grade-point average as a Medical Imaging major.

Boeshore is the first Academic all-America honoree for the Emory softball program since Sarah Morse was named to the first team in 2007.  She is the fourth different Emory softball member to garner Academic All-America honors joining Melissa Roberts (2001 & 2003), Mary Nicol (2003) and Morse (2005, 2006 & 2007).

To be eligible for the Academic All-America honor, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, be voted to the first team of the all-district team and be nominated by his sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.

Emory athletes are selected as part of the 'College Division' which represents NCAA Division II and III athletes, in addition to NAIA participants.
