After playing junior college Gordon on Saturday, head coach Penny
Siqueiros saw her Eagles take both contests of a doubleheader
against Huntingdon College on Sunday, posting a six-inning, 10-2
decision in the opener before coming away with a 7-0 whitewash in
the second game. Freshman outfielder Lauren Gorodetsky
and sophomore first baseman Ellyn Kocoloski keyed the offensive
attack, combining for nine hits, six runs and seven RBIs over the
two games. Gorodestky earned UAA Athlete of the Week kudos
after hitting .625 with five hits in eight trips to the plate. One
of Gorodestksy’s safeties was a three-run triple in the
opener that was the big blow in a five-run sixth inning.
Kocoloski went 4-of-7 at the plate with a team-high four RBIs,
picking up two in each game. Freshman pitcher Lena Brottman
drew the starting nod in the opener and turned in an impressive
complete-game performance, striking out nine while issuing just two
walks. Junior Bridget Holloway picked up the win on the mound
in the finale, coming on in relief in the first inning and fanning
two while surrendering six hits.
Maryville, led by second-year head coach Kim Woodard, starts the
weekend 0-2 after dropping both games of a twinbill against Berry
College on Wednesday by 8-4 and 12-3 scores.
Peace College is a member of the USA South Athletic Conference and
guided by 12th-year head coach Charlie Dobbins.
The Pacers will enter the Emory Classic with a 1-3
record.
