Emory University's senior duo of Taylor Forte and Brittany File were recognized for their fine seasons with their selections to the All-Atlantic Region Team as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Forte garnered second-team acclaim while File was an at-large choice on the third team.
A starter in left field in all 38 Emory contests, Forte closed out the campaign by leading the University Athletic Association in hitting with a .436 effort at the plate. She topped the squad in a number of offensive categories including hits (51), walks (22), and with an on-base percentage of .538, good for the No. 1 spot in the league. She scored a team-high tying 32 runs, good for a fifth-place tie among conference players. She produced a team-high 16 multi-hit contests and hit safely three or more times in five games. A First Team All-UAA honoree, she ranks 11th on the program's all-time ladder in hitting (.376) and stands fifth in on-base percentage (.480).
File finished the season with a 13-4 record in the circle with her victory total second in the University Athletic Association. Recently named to the All-UAA First Team for the second straight season, File recorded an ERA of 1.81 over 116 1/3 innings of work, good for third place among UAA hurlers. She struck out 157 batters, sixth on the program's seasonal chart, and her average of 9.45 strikeouts per seven innings paced the league while ranking 10th in the Division III ranks. She fanned 10 or more batters on four occasions this season (24 in her career) including a season-high 14, in a complete-game no-hitter vs. Averett. Her career record of 76-21 makes her the school's all-time leader in wins, surpassing the previous mark of 73 held by Nicole Kovski (2001-04).
Emory finished the 2017 campaign with an overall ledger of 25-13.
