Emory Women's Basketball Loses To Brandeis
The Emory women's basketball team closed out the home portion of
this season's home schedule Sunday afternoon with a loss to
Brandeis University. The Eagles saw their overall
record to 10-14, 3-10 in the University Athletic Association,
following a 58-38 setback to the Judges who raised their overall
slate to 15-8, 8-5 in the conference.
Emory fell behind by a 13-2 margin with 12 :31 left in the first
half before responding with its own 13-2 spurt, keyed by
three-point field goals by sophomores Becca Feldman and Sally
Peterson, to knot the game at 15-15 with 9:00 minutes
remaining. However, the Judges closed out the stanza on a
13-4 blitz to take a 28-19 edge into halftime.
The Eagles still were within striking distance, trailing by a
10-point margin, 45-35, with 10 minutes remaining, but missed in
next seven field goal attempts with Brandeis taking advantage of
the cold streak, scoring 13 unanswered points to take a 23-point
lead with 1:30 left on the clock.
Senior Whitney Martin scored eight points for the Eagles and
tied with freshman Danielle Landry for team honors with five
rebounds.
Amber Strodthoff of Brandeis led all players with 16 points and
snared 17 rebounds.
Emory closes out the campaign next Saturday (Feb. 27) at the
University of Rochester.
