Emory Women's Basketball Defeats Spelman

The Emory women's basketball team received double-figure scoring
from four players Tuesday evening as it posted a win at Spelman
College. The Eagles evened their record at 4-4 following a
73-55 win over the Jaguars who slipped to 1-5.
Freshman Danielle Landry led all players with a career-high 17
points while grabbing a season-high tying nine rebounds.
Landry sank seven-of-nine from the floor and three free throws in
registering her third double-digit outing of the season.
Senior Keenan Whitesides recorded her second double double of the
season with a 13-point, team-best 10 rebound effort. Rounding
out the team's double-figure scorers were senior Whitney Martin (13
pts.) and sophomore Beccaa Feldman (11 pts.).
For the game, Emory shot 43.5 percent (27-of-62) from the
field while the home team checked with a 39.7 percent showing
(23-of-58). The Eagles also held a slim 39-38 advantage in
rebounding.
Emory led from start to finish in the game and held a 33-18 lead at
halftime with Landry and Feldman leading the way with nine and
eight points, respectively. Martin scored Emory's first six
points of the second half and helped it to a 39-20 lead with 18:37
on the clock. However, the Jaguars did rally back to within
10 points, 49-39, with 9:54 left on the clock following a jumper by
Shanda Kennedy. The Eagles iced the game with an 8-1 spurt,
keyed by three-pointers by sophomore Becca Feldman and senior Mary
Smith and a bucket by Martin, that upped its cushion to 57-40 with
6:59 on the clock.
The Eagles return to action on Dec. 29 when it hosts Birmingham
Southern.
