Emory Women's Basketball To Host Tip-Off Tournament

GAME FACTS - The 2009-10 Emory University women's basketball team returns to the Woodruff PE Center this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 20-21) when it hosts the Tip-Off Tournament.  The Eagles will take on Millsaps in a 6:00 p.m. start on Friday with Agnes Scott and Covenant College closing out the opening evening of action in an 8:00 p.m. tip.  On Saturday, the consolation game starts at 6:00 p.m., with the championship tilt to follow that.

THE COACHES - Emory Head Coach Christy Thomaskutty (Tulane, '96) is in her seventh season at the helm of the program.  She assumed her current duties prior to the start of the 2003-04 campaign.

Mary Bolton (Nicholls State) is in her fourth year as the head coach at Millsaps.  The ninth coach in the 31-year history of the program, Bolton enters the  2009-10 season with a school record of 20-54.

Directing the fortunes of the Agnes Scott program for his second season is Tony Ciccone (Florida, 1996).  Heading into Friday's action, Ciccone has a school record of 13-12 to his credit.  Last year, he guided the Scotties to a 13-11 ledger.  Before his current post, Ciccone served as an assistant with the Emory women's program for four seasons.

In her second stint as the head coach of the Covenant College program is Tami Smialek (Covenant College, 1981).  Smialek returned to the bench in July of 2009 after working in various administrative capacities the previous seven years.  She enjoyed an 18-year tenure as head coach with the program before venturing to administration.
