Emory Women's Basketball Plays Final Road Games Of The Season
GAME FACTS – The Emory women’s
basketball team closes out the road portion of its 2010-11 schedule
this Friday (Feb. 18) and Sunday (Feb. 20) when it battles Case
Western Reserve and Carnegie Mellon. The Horsburgh Gym at the
Veale Convocation Center on the CWRU campus will serve as the site
of the 36th meeting between the Eagles and Spartans and
tip is slated for 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Skibo Gymnasium on
the Carnegie Mellon campus will be the backdrop for the
45th clash between the two programs with a 2:00 p.m. tip
slated.
THE COACHES – Emory Head Coach
Christy Thomaskutty (Tulane, ’96) is in her
eighth season at the helm of the program. She assumed her
current duties prior to the start of the 2003-04
campaign.
In her fourth campaign at the helm of the Case Western program is
Jennifer Reimer (Lycoming, 1994). During her
tenure with the Spartans, she has manufactured a school and record
of 48-49. In 15 campaigns as a head coach, she has built a
career slate of 205-151.
Gerri Seidl (Pittsburgh, 1978) is in her 27th year in
directing the fortunes of the Carnegie Mellon program. Heading into
a Friday home affair vs. the University of Rochester, Seidl has
chalked a school and career mark of 275-387.

2010-11 RECORDS – Emory starts
the weekend with an overall record of 9-13 (2-9 UAA). Last
weekend, Emory dropped a pair of home contests to nationally ranked
opponents. On Friday, the Eagles came out on the short end of
a 74-60 verdict to then-No. 6 Washington University before dropping
an 81-62 outcome to No. 7 Chicago on Sunday.
Case Western will entertain Emory with an overall mark on 12-10,
6-5 in the UAA. Last weekend, the Spartans got over .500 in
the league with a pair of road wins, 77-69 at New York University
and 49-45 at Brandeis. CWRU is 4-4 in home games this
year.
Carnegie Mellon posts a 2-20 overall record, 0-11 in the UAA.
Last weekend, the Tartans lost at Brandeis, 59-54, and NYU,
72-50.
SERIES RECORDS –
Case leads in the all-time series by a 22-13 margin. The
Spartans captured the first meeting of the year, 71-65, with
freshman Hannah Lilly pacing the Emory scoring
effort with 15 points. CWRU has won 13 of the series’
18 games played on its home floor.
Emory claims a 27-17 edge in the series vs. Carnegie Mellon that
includes an 82-60 triumph earlier this year (Jan.23) in
Atlanta. Leading the Eagles in that contest was sophomore
Danielle Landry with 18 points and a team-high
tying seven rebounds. Each team has registered 11 victories
in games contested on CMU’s home floor.
NOTES – Sophomore Misha
Jackson totaled a season-high tying 21 points in the
Eagles' game vs. Wash U. on Friday evening, her ninth double-figure
scoring performance of the year ... Jackson then grabbed a
team-high six rebounds against Chicago on Sunday, the ninth time
that she has paced the squad in that department this season ...
Heading into the weekend, Jackson is second on the team and
15th in the UAA in scoring (10.3 ppg) … In
addition, her 6.6 per-game effort in rebounding also stands second
on the squad and is good for the No. 5 spot on the UAA ladder
… Junior Becca Feldman tied her season high
with 14 points on Sunday vs. UC, her fifth double-digit effort of
the year ... Sophomore Danielle Landry, the team leader in
rebounding in four of the past five games, heads into the weekend
with a team-high 7.0 per-game effort in that category, good for the
No. 3 position on the UAA chart … Emory recorded 13 and 14
steals against Wash U. and Chicago, respectively, and has
registered 15 games of 10 or more thefts this season ... Heading
into the weekend, the Eagles have 274 steals to their credit, the
second-highest mark in school history -- just 10 shy of tying the
all-time mark of 284 set by the 1994-95 team … Freshman
Savannah Morgan is sixth among UAA players in
assists (4.0 apg) and fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6)
… The Eagles are 18-3 during Thomaskutty’s tenure as
head coach when scoring 80 or more points … Emory has
outshot 10 opponents from the floor this season and stands 9-1 in
those contests … The Eagles have enjoyed an edge in
the rebounding department in eight games and post a 7-1 mark
in those outings … Emory has outscored the opposition in 22
of 44 halves … Emory is No. 2 among UAA teams in scoring
(73.6 ppg).
