Emory Women's Basketball Hosts Pair Of Top-10 Ranked Foes
GAME FACTS – The Emory women’s
basketball team faces a formidable this task this weekend when it
plays host to a pair of top-10 University Athletic Association
opponents. On Friday (Feb. 11), the Eagles battle Washington
University in a 6:00 p.m. start before taking on the University of
Chicago on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The game against Chicago will
be the annual “Think Pink” Game with the Emory athletic
department taking part in the battle against breast cancer.
THE COACHES – Emory Head Coach
Christy Thomaskutty (Tulane, ’96) is in her
eighth season at the helm of the program. She assumed her
current duties prior to the start of the 2003-04
campaign.
In her 25th campaign at the helm of the Washington U. program is
Nancy Fahey (Wisconsin, 1981). During her
tenure with the Bears, she has manufactured a school and career
record of 588-103. She has five national titles to her credit.
Aaron Roussell (Iowa, 2001) is in his seventh year in
calling the shots at Chicago. Heading into a Friday affair at the
University of Rochester, Roussell has chalked a school and career
mark of 126-48.

2010-11 RECORDS – Emory starts the weekend
with an overall record of 9-11 (2-7 UAA). Last Friday, Emory
turned in a stellar effort in subduing Brandeis, 72-55, with junior
Becca Feldman pacing the team’s scoring attack with 14
points. On Sunday, the Eagles came out on the short end of an
81-76 decision to New York University with sophomore Misha Jackson
putting up 17 points and classmate Danielle Landry pulling down 11
boards in that affair.
WU , ranked No. 6 in the nation among Division III programs in both
the D3hoops.com and USA Today ESPN DTop 25 Coaches Poll,
stands 17-3 in overall play and 8-1 in UAA outings, one game behind
league-leading Chicago. The Bears are riding an eight-game
winning streak including a 73-37 decision at Carnegie Mellon last
Friday and a 69-47 triumph at Case Western on Sunday. During its
eight-game streak, WU has held six foes to 55 or fewer points.
Chicago heads to Rochester with an overall slate of 17-3 and owns a
perfect 9-0 mark in league contests. The Maroons, ranked No.
7 in the USA Today ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll and No. 10 by
D3hoops.com, came through with a pair of road wins last weekend,
65-55 at Case Western and 76-43 at Carnegie Mellon.
SERIES RECORDS – In a series that dates from
February of 1989, WU has captured 39 of 44 meetings. The
Bears won the first meeting of 2011, 94-55, in Saint Louis.
Chicago posts an all-time mark of 29-15 against Emory. UC
earned a win in the first meeting of this year when it came away
with a 92-75 decision on its home floor. In games played in
Atlanta, Chicago is 14-8 against Emory.

NOTES – After being outrebounded in
its previous seven games, the Eagles finished with an edge on the
glass in contests vs. Brandeis (35-30) and NYU (40-36) last weekend
... Emory shot 471. percent from the floor against Brandeis, the
team's best percentage in a league game this year, and the 55
points allowed to the Judges was Emory's best defensive in that
category in a conference game this year ... Sophomore
Danielle Landry topped the team in rebounding in
both games over the weekend, picking off eight boards vs. Brandies
and 11 against NYU which represented her fifth effort of
double-digits in that department in '10-11 ... Landry is No.
3 in the UAA in rebounding (7.3 rpg) while Misha
Jackson is No. 5 (6.8 rpg) … Freshman
Savannah Morgan's 15 points vs. NYU tied her
second-highest scoring performance of the year ... Morgan has came
through nine games of double-figure scoring and is 22nd
among UAA players in scoring (8.4 ppg) … Morgan is tied for
fifth on the conference chart in assists (4.3) while her
assist/ratio turnover of 1.7 is good for a fourth-place tie
… Freshman Hannah Lilly registered 16
points against NYU, her 11th double-figure scoring game of the year
... Lilly’s 11.5 per-game scoring average tops the squad and
is 11th in the UAA … Misha
Jackson is averaging 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in her
last three contests … Jackson, a double-figure scorer on
eight occasions this year, is 16th in the UAA in scoring
(10.0 ppg) and tied for 11th in field goal percentage
(.454) … Emory holds down the No. 2 spot and ranks
18th nationally in scoring (74.9 ppg) … Emory
came up back-to-back games of double-figure steals with 13 and 11
thefts last weekend against Brandeis and NYU, respectively, and now
has 13 performances of 10 or more steals … The Eagles pace
