Misha Jackson Named UAA Women's Basketball Player Of The Week
Emory University junior Misha Jackson (Atlanta) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her effort in helping the Eagles to three victories. It marks the first time in her career that she has been chosen for the award.
The 5-foot-11 Jackson averaged 19.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in helping Emory boost its overall record to 3-1. Jackson topped the club in scoring in all three contests, shooting 64.2 percent (27-of-42) from the field, highlighted by an 11-of-16 effort from the floor en route to a career-high 25 points in an 80-58 decision over LaGrange College on Nov. 23. Jackson also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in that affair, her second double-double of the season and third of her career. She followed that effort with a game-high 20 points, knocking down 10-of-15 from the field in a 72-59 triumph over Birmingham Southern on Sunday (Nov. 27). She opened the week by tallying a team-best 14 points, hitting six-of-11 from the floor, in just 19 minutes of action in an 87-43 victory over Covenant College.
Through four games, Jackson paces the team and stands second among UAA players in scoring (17.3 ppg) and is No. 6 on the league ladder in rebounding (7.5 rpg).
Emory returns to action on Nov. 29 when it plays at Sewanee in a 7:00 pm (EST) tip.
