Baecher Earns Weekly UAA Honor

Junior Kirsten Baecher, goalkeeper for the Emory University women's soccer team, was the named Defensive Athlete of the Week for the University Athletic Association (UAA), after a 1-0-1 record in goal last week.

Baecher allowed just one goal over 200 minutes played for the Eagles last week.  She earned the first shutout of her career during Emory's 3-0 win over Millsaps College, making two saves in the process.  The junior also played all 110 minutes of the Eagles' 1-1 tie against Transylvania University, preserving the tie with eight saves during the contest.  Baecher went 1-0-1 in goal with a 0.45 goals against average during the week, improving to 1-1-3 on the season with a 1.41 GAA. 

Baecher's performance in goal this year has helped the Eagles start their season with a 2-1-3 record.
