Eagles Play to 1-1 Tie with New York University

The Emory University women's soccer team came from behind late in regulation to force a 1-1 tie with New York University on Friday night at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

Emory fell behind in the 13th minute of the contest, as New York University's Emily Jenkinson scored off an assist from Erica Jones.

Both teams would battle back-and-forth for the remainder of the half, and the first 32 minutes of the second half, before the Eagles would strike back.

Junior Melanie Levy would tie the match for the Eagles in the 77th minute of the contest, scoring off a spectacular diving header following a free kick from Talia Dweck.  The goal was the second of the season for Levy, and the seventh assist of the season for Dweck.

Emory would take control of the game, registering 13 shots in the second half, and seven during the two overtime periods, compared to just eight shots during that same stretch for NYU.  The Eagles would also take five corner kicks during the match, compared to three for the Violets.

Emory's record improved to 4-2-5 on the season, including a 0-1-2 mark in University Athletic Association (UAA) matches.  The tie puts Emory one shy of the school's single-season record.  The Violets' went to 8-4-1 on the campaign, and 0-2-1 in conference play.

Emory will return to action on Sunday, facing Brandeis University at 1:30 PM at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.
