Emory's Gorodetsky Named to the All-South Atlantic Region First Team
Emory University defender Lauren Gorodetsky was
named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA)/ Performance Subaru All-South Atlantic Region First Team,
following her freshman campaign with the Eagles.
Gorodetsky was one of just two freshman named to the All-South
Atlantic Region First Team, and one of just five freshman on any of
the three teams in the region. She is also the
23rd first team selection (and third freshman first team
selection) in the program’s history. Gorodetsky is the
first Emory freshman to earn all-region honors for women’s
soccer since 2002 (Sarah Brody and Amy Bedford), and the first
freshman to be named to the all-region first team since Katie
Coburn in 1998.
Gorodetsky earned a spot on the all-University Athletic Association
(UAA) First Team, starting all 21 games she played in during the
season, and helping the Emory defense record a 0.56 goals against
average. She finished year with two goals and three assists,
including a pair of assists in Emory’s seven UAA matches, and
set a school record with 1,914 minutes played during the
campaign.
Due in large part to Gorodetsky’s efforts, the Eagles
advanced to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer
Quarterfinals, before losing to the eventual National Champions,
Hardin-Simmons University. Emory ended the season as the
fifth-ranked team in Division III with a 16-2-4 record.
