15th-Ranked Eagles to Face Two UAA Opponents on the Road this Weekend

The 15th-ranked Emory University women's soccer team will take to the road in search of its first University Athletic Association (UAA) win of the campaign, playing at New York University on Friday and Brandeis University on Sunday.  Both games will start at 11:00 AM.

Emory University Eagles
Emory will enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-1-2 this season, following its 4-1 win at home against Oglethorpe University on Tuesday.  The Eagles are 2-0-1 in road matches this season, including a tie against Washington University (Mo.) in its only UAA road contest to date.  Emory's leading scorers this season are seniors Melanie Levy and Sara Belsole, who have each tallied four goals and two assists for 10 points, while sophomores Erica Stein and Kaele Leonard have split time in goal, combining for a 0.55 goals against average and a .854 save percentage.  The Eagles are led by head coach Sue Patberg, who is 71-20-14 during her six seasons with Emory.

New York University Violets
The Violets currently stand at 5-6-2 on the campaign, but are a perfect 4-0-0 at home this season.  NYU is coming off a 1-0 loss to Case Western Reserve University last Saturday, despite having an advantage in shots and corner kicks during the game.  Serra Tumay leads all Violets with five goals and four assists for 14 points this season, and goalkeeper Rachel Ross has seen the majority of time in the net, going 3-4-1 with a 1.46 goals against average.  NYU is led by head coach Werner T. Dasbach, who is 36-31-6 during his five seasons at the team's helm.

Brandeis University Judges
Brandeis will begin the weekend with an overall record of 9-2-1 in 2010, and will host Carnegie Mellon University on Friday before facing Emory on Sunday.  Brandeis is 5-0-1 on their home field this season.  On Tuesday, the Judges came from behind to beat Clark University 2-1 on the road.  The team's leading scorer is Sofia Vallone, who has 12 goals and two assists for 26 points this season, and ranks 29th in Division III in goals per game and 49th in points per game.  Goalkeeper Francine Kofinas is 9-1-0 this season with a 0.56 goals against average and a .898 save percentage.  Brandeis is led by head coach Denise Dallamora, who is in her 31st season with the squad with a record of 262-231-49.

Matchup Histories
The Eagles have a 9-0-6 record in their meetings with NYU, including a 4-0-4 mark in matches played in New York.  Last season, the Eagles and the Violets played to a 1-1 tie at the Woodruff P.E. Center, as Melanie Levy scored the only goal in the game for Emory.

Emory is 14-6-2 all time against Brandeis, including an 8-2-1 record in matches played in Waltham, MA.  The Eagles have not lost a match at Brandeis since the 1992 campaign, going 7-0-1 during the stretch.  Last season, Emory suffered a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Judges, despite a goal from current Eagle Caroline Coates.

UAA Update
The University of Chicago is currently leading the UAA with a 2-0-0 record, while Washington University (Mo.) is in second with a 1-0-1 record.  Brandeis, Case Western Reserve University, NYU, and Rochester are in four-way tie for third with 1-1-0 records in conference play.  Emory is currently in seventh with a 0-1-1 UAA record, and Carnegie Mellon is in eighth with a mark of 0-2-0 in conference matches.  The UAA schedule for this weekend is as follows:

Emory Notes
Emory's Kaele Leonard began the week ranked sixth in Division III with a 0.931 save percentage and ninth with a 0.332 goals against average… The Eagles have allowed just one goal in three road contests this season… Emory's team 0.55 goals against average is the lowest among all UAA teams this season… Leonard's current goals against average of 0.46 is the lowest among all UAA goalkeepers who have logged at least 51% of their team's minutes… Melanie Levy, Emily Rubin, and Clare Mullins are all tied for the team lead with two game-winning goals apiece this season… Lee Bachouros leads all Emory players with three game-winning assists… Emory's game-winning goal has been unassisted in three of the team's last four victories.
