The Emory University Women's Soccer team snapped its three-game losing skid by defeating the University of Rochester, 2-0, in the regular season finale for both programs.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eagles honored their six-member senior class of Melinda Altamore, Melissa Ardizzone, Kaitlyn Dorka, Lizzie Garrett-Currie, Anna Gurney and Bahar Ulusan with an on-field ceremony.
Hilsee opened the scoring as she netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 20:27 mark of the first half. The go-ahead marker was scored as Hilsee headed in a corner kick from junior Abbe McCarter. The assist was McCarter's ninth of the season, the most by an Eagle in a single-season since Charlotte Butker had 10 during the 2012 campaign.
Junior Madison Phaneuf provided Emory with an insurance goal in the 84th minute as she scored her second goal of the year. Freshman Lily Dresner supplied a free kick that saw the Rochester goalkeeper, Emma Campbell, make the stop on the play but the rebound went right to Phaneuf in front, who headed it home.
With the win, the Eagles notched their first 10-win season since 2014, finishing the regular season at 10-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the UAA. Rochester wraps up its season at 7-9-1 including a 1-6 conference mark.
