Ciardelli Earns University Athletic Association Honors
Based on her performance during the Eagles' season-opening win
over Davidson College on Saturday, Emory University's
Lillian Ciardelli was named the University
Athletic Association's (UAA) Athlete of the Week for women's
swimming and diving.
Ciardelli recorded four ‘B' cut performances during last
Saturday's meet. She finished second in the 50-yard freestyle
in a provisional qualifying time of 24.10 seconds and fourth in the
100-yard freestyle with a ‘B' cut time of 52.89
seconds. The senior also helped two Emory relay teams to
first place finishes and provisional times, swimming the second leg
of the 200-freestyle relay (1:35.82) and the butterfly leg of the
200-medley relay (1:47.19).
Ciardelli, a 10-time all-American and National Champion as part of
Emory's 200-freestyle relay team last season, helped the Eagles to
a 164-130 win over Davidson. She and the rest of the Emory
squad will return to action next Saturday, facing the University of
North Carolina Wilmington and the University of Houston in
Wilmington, NC.
