Emory Swimmers Selected for NCAA D-III Championships
The NCAA released its list of swimmers selected to compete at
the 2011 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships,
announcing 18 members of the Emory women’s team and 16
members of the men’s squad to the field.
Selections on the women’s side for Emory include
Jennifer Aronoff, Anne Culpepper,
Leslie Hackler, Liz Horvat,
Suzanne Lemberg, Taryn Lushinsky,
Laura Manor, Courtney McDermott,
Amy Minowitz, Katie Mroz,
Sadie Nennig, Claire Pavlak,
Renee Rosenkranz, Jacqueline
Schneider, Whitley Taylor, April
Whitley, Ann Wolber and Brooke
Woodward. The 18 selections represent the maximum
number of team participants allowed at the NCAA Championships.
The invitees for the Emory men include Patrick
Augustyn, Ryan Bass, Mark
Bernstein, Jared Dubnow, Darrell
Eacret, Justin Leemis, Matt
O’Brien, Peter O’Brien,
Mackenzie Perry, Sean Ransenberg,
Ben Redpath, Ross Spock,
Matt Spooner, Richard Upton, and
Paul Weinstein. The first alternate to the
meet, Emory’s Justin Beegle, will also
compete in place of the Eagles’ Jeff
Simpson, who was invited as part of Emory’s 800-yard
freestyle relay team. Emory’s Stephen
Czaja and Abhijan Khosla were selected as
the seventh and eighth alternate, respectively.
Swimmers who are invited in an individual event are allowed to
compete in any other individual event, up to the maximum of
three. Those who are selected only as part of a relay are
eligible to compete in any event that they have recorded a
‘B’ cut time in during the year, up to the maximum.
Emory will now await the announcement of the divers slated to
compete at the NCAA Championships, slated for release on
Tuesday.
The NCAA Division III Championships will be held in Knoxville, TN
from March 23rd – 26th. The Emory
women will be aiming for their second-consecutive NCAA
Championship, while the men will look to improve on their
third-place finish last season.
