Emory Swimming & Diving Returns from Break with Away & Home Meets
The Emory University swimming and diving teams will return to the pool this weekend after over a month off from competition for winter break, facing the University of Tampa on Friday at 11:00 AM in Florida, and returning home to host the University of Kentucky on Sunday at 11:00 AM.
The Eagles, who have spent the last week training in Florida, will take part in an intercollegiate competition for the first time since December 3, 2011, when the squad was split between the Miami (Ohio) Invitational and the SCAD Invitational. The top-ranked Emory women finished the 2011 portion of their schedule with a dual meet record of 1-3, while the third-ranked men are 0-3.
Emory will face tough competition against the University of Tampa, an NCAA Division II institution. The Tampa women are 5-1 in dual meets this season, and were ranked seventh among Division II teams in the last College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll. The Spartan men are 4-2 in dual meet action, and ranked ninth in Division II.
Friday's meet will be held at the UT Swimming Complex. Fans unable to attend can follow the meet with a live video webcast at http://tampaspartans.tv/swimming/.
On Sunday, the Eagles will return home to host the University of Kentucky, an NCAA Division I institution out of the Southeastern Conference. The meet, held at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center inside the Woodruff Physical Education Center, will also be webcast online at http://go.emory.edu/Webcasts/SwimWebcast.html. Fans wishing to view the webcast will need to have RealPlayer installed on their computers, which can be downloaded for free from real.com.
Results and a recap for each meet will be posted to EmoryAthletics.com shortly following the completion of competition.
