Megan Beach Named UAA Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Emory University freshman Megan Beach was named the University Athletic Association's (UAA) Athlete of the Week for Women's Swimming, after helping the top-ranked Eagles to a 138-61 dual-meet victory over the Savannah College of Art & Design on Saturday.
Beach recorded an NCAA 'B' cut time and two first-place finishes during Saturday's meet. She won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.04, good for an NCAA 'B' cut mark. She also claimed an individual victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:33.08. The freshman capped off her day with a time of 55.08 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle, good for a fourth-place finish.
Beach becomes the seventh Eagle this season to be named the UAA's Women's Swimmer of the Week. It was the first weekly conference honor of the freshman's career.
With the team victory, the Eagles improved to 3-4 in dual meets this season. Emory will return to the pool on Saturday, January 28th at Georgia Tech.
