The Eagles' top four seeds all advanced to the final four of the
singles bracket, headlined by reigning Division III champion
Lorne McManigle, who came from behind to win her
quarterfinals match 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore second seed
Zahra Dawson, freshman fifth seed Jordan
Wylie and junior fourth seed Lindsay
Reidenbach all cruised into the semifinals with
straight-set victories in their two matches during the day.
Reidenbach's path was the hardest, defeating sixth-seed Stephanie
Brown of Millsaps 6-2, 6-2 in the quarters.
Tomorrow's singles semifinals will pit McManigle against Reidenbach
and Wylie against Dawson, with the winners playing for the
tournament championship.
In doubles play, Emory's top-seeded pairing of Dawson and McManigle
won both of their matches during the day, including an 8-2 win over
the fourth-seeded pair of Anna Beth Sanford and Alice Havner during
the semifinals. Emory's Reidenbach and Sara
Vrabec teamed up to upset second-seeded teammates
Tshema Nash and Amanda Wylie 8-6
in the quarterfinals, followed by another upset win, 8-4, over
third-seeded Jenny Liles and Michelle Flume of Sewanee to advance
to the finals.
Dawson and McManigle will face Reidenbach and Vrabec at 3:00 PM on
Sunday for the doubles championship.
The Wilson/ ITA South Region Championships will conclude on Sunday,
starting with the singles semifinals at 9:00 AM, with winners
playing in the championship match scheduled for noon, at the
