Emory Womens Tennis Defeats Gustavus Adolphus at ITA Indoor Quarterfinals
The third-ranked Emory University women's tennis team defeated
#13 Gustavus Adolphus College 6-3 at the ITA Division III Women's
Indoor Championships to advance to the semifinal round on
Saturday.
The Eagles earned victories from their first doubles team of
Lorne McManigle and Zahra Dawson
and second doubles team of Sabra Rogers and
Tshema Nash to take a 2-1 lead heading into
singles play.
Emory went on to win four of the six singles matches to clinch the
team victory. McManigle earned a 6-0, 6-2 win in the first
singles match, Jordan Wylie claimed a 6-2, 6-0
victory in the third singles match, Nash won the fifth singles
match 6-2, 6-0, and Sara Vrabec claimed a 6-3, 6-1
win in the sixth singles match.
With the victory, Emory improved to 5-2 this season, while Gustavus
Adolphus dropped to 4-4 with the loss. Emory will continue at
the ITA Indoor Championships tomorrow, facing the winner of today's
Denison-Carnegie Mellon match in the semifinals at 2:00 PM.
