Clark Earns Second-Straight UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

Emory University freshman Gabrielle Clark was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for women’s tennis for the second-straight week, after her performances against Gustavus Adolphus and Williams last week.

Clark posted perfect 2-0 records in both singles and doubles matches for the top-ranked Eagles last week.  In a 6-0 win over 11th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College, Clark teamed with Lorne McManigle to win 8-2 at first doubles over the Central Region’s fourth-ranked pairing, and claimed a 7-5, 6-3 win at first singles over the fifth-ranked player in the region.  She repeated her performance against fourth-ranked Williams College, winning 9-8 (3) over the Northeast Region’s fourth-ranked doubles team, and defeated the second-ranked Northeast player 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in a 5-4 team loss.

Clark has won 12 consecutive singles matches to improve to 20-4 on the season, and is 18-7 in doubles play.  She has led the Eagles to a 15-3 overall record this season.
