Members of the Emory University women's tennis team took time out of their offseason this past weekend to run a tennis clinic for young children in the Atlanta community.
The Eagles ventured out to the College Park/ East Point area of Atlanta on Saturday, October 23rd, to host an hour clinic prior to the start of the USTA Quick Start Tournament at the Woodward Courts. The clinic was for children in the community between the ages of four and ten, and for those participating in the quick start tournament.
"I think it is important for our student-athletes to become involved in the greater Atlanta community, and what better way than through tennis," said Emory women's tennis head coach Amy Bryant. "The Emory team brought a lot of energy to the clinic and all the children had a good time. At the end one of the parents thanked us for coming and for being good positive role models for the kids."
The Eagles, who finished second at the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships, recently wrapped up their fall season at the USTA/ITA Small College Nationals. Emory will resume play in the spring, taking on Auburn University – Montgomery on February 13, 2011.
