Emory Womens Tennis Completes Competition at the USTA/ITA Nationals
Emory University completed competition at the USTA/ITA Small
College Nationals, with junior Zahra Dawson
finishing sixth in the singles draw, and later teaming with senior
Lorne McManigle to finish fourth in the
doubles draw.
The Eagles' duo lost their first match of the day on
Friday to Kristin Lim and Crystal Lim of
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, 6-3, 6-0. In the third place
match, Emory would default to the College of New Jersey to
claim fourth at the tournament.
In the singles draw, Dawson won her first match of the consolation
bracket, defeating Jennifer Kung of the University of Chicago, 7-6
(4), 7-5. However, on Saturday, Dawson dropped two close sets
to Chicago's Kendra Higgins, falling 7-6 (8), 7-6 (5) to finish
sixth overall.
The conclusion of the USTA/ITA Small College Nationals will also
mark the end to the Eagles' fall season. Emory will resume
play in the spring, opening the season on February 13th at Auburn
University - Montgomery.
