#3 Women’s Tennis to Host Columbus State, Huntingdon & Agnes Scott this Weekend

The third-ranked Emory University women's tennis team will wrap-up its season-opening four game home stand this weekend, hosting Division II Columbus State University on Saturday at 2:00 PM, while Huntingdon College and Agnes Scott College will visit the Woodruff P.E. Center at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, respectively, on Sunday.

Emory will begin the weekend with a 0-1 record, following the team's 6-3 loss to Auburn University Montgomery of the NAIA.  The Eagles are currently the third-ranked NCAA Division III squad, and the top-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region.

Columbus State will enter the match ranked 12th among all NCAA Division II squads this season and third in the Southeast Region.  The Cougars are 2-0 on the campaign after an 8-1 win at Shorter College and a 9-0 win at Fort Valley State.  Columbus State features the 36th-ranked player in Division II in Carolin Weikard, while Renata Paiva received votes for the national rankings.  Weikard and Paiva also received votes for the doubles national rankings.  This will be the first-ever match between the Eagles and the Cougars.

Huntingdon currently stands at 1-0 on the campaign after a home win over Mississippi College.  The Hawks will also host Louisiana College on Saturday before facing the Eagles on Sunday.  Emory is 6-1 all time against Huntingdon, including a 9-0 win last season.

Agnes Scott has begun the campaign as the 20th-ranked squad in the Atlantic South Region.  The Scotties will enter Sunday's match with an 0-1 record, following a 9-0 loss at the University of the South on Saturday, February 11th.  Emory is 26-2 all time against Agnes Scott, including a 5-0 win in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships last season.
