Emory Women's Tennis Names Christy Striplin Lynch Assistant Coach

Emory University head women’s tennis coach Amy Bryant  has announced the appointment of Christy Striplin Lynch as assistant coach. Lynch will begin her duties on August 15.

Area tennis fans will remember Striplin Lynch as an outstanding performer at Georgia Tech University where she played from 2005-09.   She closed out her four-year tenure with the Yellow Jackets in the No. 2 spot on the school’s all-time list in singles victories, posting a won-lost ledger of 117-42.  An accomplished doubles player as well, her career 68 victories in that category, ranked among that program’s top 10.  She played a key role on Georgia Tech’s drive to the 2007 Division I national title, winning all six of her singles matches in the NCAA Championships.   Her 35 singles triumph that season tied for the sixth-highest seasonal mark in Tech annals, and she ended the year as the No. 63-ranked singles player in Division I.   As a senior in 2008-09, she aided in the Yellow Jackets’ fifth straight NCAA round of 16 appearance, and finished off the year with a 30-14 singles record along with a No. 42 national ranking.

“I am excited to welcome Christy Striplin Lynch to the Emory tennis family,” Bryant said.   “Christy brings a wealth of knowledge to our program and a true passion for the game of tennis. She played on the 2007 D1 National Championship team at Georgia Tech before competing on the professional tour.  Additionally, she has coached the Georgia Tech women and many players in the Atlanta area in the past year. I have no doubt that her experiences and energy will positively impact our program.”

Following her career at Georgia Tech, Striplin Lynch competed as a professional on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour for a year (2009-10).  Most recently, she served as a volunteer assistant coach at Georgia Tech during this past year while providing tennis and fitness instruction at Christy Striplin Tennis & Fitness.

Christy earned her bachelor’s degree in management from Georgia Tech in 2009.
