Emory University sophomore Defne Olcay was named the University Athletic Association Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon. It is the first career weekly honor for the Istanbul, Turkey native.
Olcay recorded a pair of wins playing at first and third singles and added a 2-0 record with classmate Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico at first doubles as the top-ranked Eagles posted a 2-0 week against Millsaps and No.-10 ranked Carnegie Mellon. Olcay has now won six straight singles matches to improve to 13-6 on the year and is now 5-2 in doubles while playing with Gonzalez-Rico.
The Eagles continue their spring break trip this Thursday and Friday with matches against No.-3 ranked Amherst and No.-7 ranked Wesleyan.
