Emory Women's 4x100-Meter Relay Team Finishes Second at the NCAA Championships
On the final day of competition at the NCAA Division III Track
and Field Championships, Emory University's 4x100-meter relay team
of senior Jordan Beall, freshmen Monique
Osigbeme and Alix Dyer, and junior
Mary Crystal Spence finished second overall in the
event.
The quartet became the first 4x100-meter relay team in the history
of the Emory women's track and field program to break 47
seconds in the event, recording a school-record time of 46.91
seconds. The Eagles finished second behind Wartburg College,
which won the event in a time of 46.21 seconds.
The second-place finish gives the Eagles eight points for the meet,
currently placing the Eagles in 13th place.
Emory's 4x100-meter relay team also earned all-America honors in
the event, becoming the first relay in the history of the program
to do so.
Also in action during the final day of the championships was
freshman Lauren Attiah, who finished 10th in the
triple jump with a distance of 11.33 meters.
With the Eagles' competition at the NCAA Championships finished,
Emory has completed its 2008-09 track and field season.
