Attiah Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Emory University sophomore Lauren Attiah was named the Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the University Athletic Association, based on her performance at the Niswonger Invitational last weekend.

Attiah recorded a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the triple jump at the Niswonger Invitational.  She reached a distance of 11.52 meters in the event, the second-longest jump in school history and .29 meters better than the provisional qualifying mark.  Facing mostly Division I competitors, the sophomore finished 12th out of 32 athletes in the triple jump.

Attiah becomes the second Eagle this season to earn the honor, after sophomore sprinter Alix Dyer garnered the honor for the week of December 7th.

Attiah and the rest of the Eagles will return to action this weekend, as Emory will take part in the Clemson Games and the Captains' Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
