Eagles Place in Top-Five 18 Times at the Clemson Games
The Emory University indoor track and field team turned in 18
top-five finishes and a provisional qualifying mark during the
two-day Clemson Games, hosted by Division I Clemson University.
Sophomore Alix Dyer turned in an NCAA provisional
qualifying performance in the 400-meter dash, finishing eighth in
the event in a season-best time of 58.28 seconds in the
event. Falling just short of women's provisional qualifying
marks at the meet were senior Brittany Donino,
whose time of 9.29 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles was .12 seconds
shy, sophomore Lauren Attiah, who was just .04
meters off the NCAA qualifying mark in the long jump with a
distance of 5.40 meters, and freshman Theresa
Ford, who cleared a height of 1.58 meters in the high
jump, .06 meters short of the standard.
Emory's distance runners turned in another solid performance at the
meet, headed by Jennifer Feinberg's first place
finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:09.68.
Feinberg was followed closely by Olivia D'Angelo,
who came in third in the event with a mark of 19:29.07.
Freshman Melanie Frank turned in a second-place
finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.51, and senior
Rebecca Flink was third in the 3,000-meter run
with a mark of 10:25.79.
The Eagles also received a third-place finish from its distance
medley relay team of Calley Edwards, Laura
Lambie-Hanson, Sara Gelb and
Melanie Frank, with a time of 12:37.50.
On the men's side, senior Alex Greenhouse fell
just .05 seconds of a provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter
dash, finishing third overall in a time of 49.90 seconds.
Greenhouse also turned in a third-place finish in the 200-meter
dash with a time of 22.66 seconds.
In the distance events, freshman Stephen Ellwood
came in third in the mile run with a time of 4:23.06, while junior
Jonathan Usry won the 5,000-meter run in a mark of
16:19.16 and senior Greg Decker came in second in
the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:43.16. The Eagles'
distance medley relay team of Manvir Heir,
Chike Brennen, Eric Lawson and
Aaron Gregg claimed a second-place finish with a
time of 10:57.90.
Emory will return to action next Saturday, February 6th,
as the Eagles will take part in the Tiger Indoor Invitational,
hosted by the University of the South in Sewanee, TN.
