Donino Qualifies for 55m Hurdle Finals; Ford Takes 16th in High Jump at NCAA Championships
During the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track &
Field Championships at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, Emory
University senior Brittany Donino qualified for
the finals in the 55-meter hurdles, and freshman Theresa
Ford finished 16th in the women’s high
jump.
Donino finished fourth in her heat, and eighth overall out of the
14 competitors, with a time of 8.32 seconds. Her time was
good enough to qualify for the finals of the event, which will take
place on Saturday at 2:35 PM.
By virtue of qualifying for the finals, Donino will earn
all-America honors in the event, the first of her career. She
is the second Eagle to earn all-America honors in the indoor
55-meter hurdles, joining Kahlilah Jennings who earned the honor in
1998. Donino is Emory’s sixth women’s indoor
all-American in the program’s history.
Meanwhile, Ford was able to record a height of 1.56 meters,
finishing 16th in the event. The height was the
fourth-best by a freshman at the NCAA Championships this
season.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, besides Donino, Emory will have
sophomore Lauren Attiah competing at the
championships. Attiah will take part in the triple jump,
starting at 9:45 AM tomorrow.
