Donino & Attiah Guide Emory Women’s Track to 34th-Place Finish at NCAA DIII Championships

Emory University senior Brittany Donino and sophomore Lauren Attiah each earned all-America honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, helping the Eagles to a 34th-place finish at the meet.

After assuring herself all-America honors yesterday by advancing through the preliminaries, Donino finished fifth in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles, recording a personal-best time of 8.30 seconds in the event.  The mark was the third-fastest indoor mark in school history.  Donino’s performance earned four points for the Eagles at the meet.

Attiah claimed a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 11.49 meters, becoming the first Emory athlete to earn all-America honors in the event at the indoor championships.  The all-America certificate is the first of Attiah’s career, after participating in the triple jump at both the NCAA indoor and outdoor championships during her freshman year.  Her finish scored three points for Emory.

The two indoor all-Americans are the seventh and eighth in school history during the indoor season, and this year marks the first time the Emory women’s track team has had multiple all-Americans in a single season since 1995.

With the national championship meet now behind them, the Eagles will turn their attention to the outdoor track and field season.  Emory’s first meet of the outdoor season will be the Emory Invitational at the Woodruff P.E. Center on March 19th and 20th.
