Three Eagles Record Provisional Times at Clemson & Sewanee

During meets at Clemson University and the University of the South this weekend, three Emory athletes recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times.

At the Tiger Tune Up, hosted by Clemson, sophomore Alix Dyer recorded a provisional time of 58.13 seconds in the 400-meter dash.  Also at Clemson, Rebecca Flink finished first in the mile run (5:10.74), Paul Winterhalter claimed the top spot in the 3,000-meter run with a program record time of 8:38.12, and the Emory women's 4x400-meter relay team of Alisha Reynolds, Melanie Levy, Hadiza Sa-Aadu and Dyer finished first with a time of 4:02.05.

At the Sewanee Indoor Invitational, freshman Nelson Nwannunu reached a distance of 14.09 meters in the triple jump, an NCAA provisional time and the fifth-best jump in school history.  Emory's other provisional qualifying mark came from sophomore Lauren Attiah, who jumped a distance of 11.41 meters in the triple jump for a second-place finish.

The Eagles will have one more meet, the NYU Fast Track next weekend, before the 2010 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in Boston, MA from March 5th-6th.
