Eagles Shine in the Field Events at the Tiger Indoor Invitational

In the first dual meet of the season hosted by a Division III institution, the Emory University track and field team turned in another solid group of performances, particularly in the field events, at the Tiger Indoor Invitational in Sewanee, TN.

For the men, Emory freshman Nelson Nwannunu recorded a trio of second-place finishes in the jump-events.  He recorded a season-best distance by an Eagle in the triple jump, setting a mark of 13.82 meters.  In the high jump, Nwannunu cleared a height of 1.83 meters, and then recorded a distance of 6.55 meters in the long jump.

Other top Emory performers in the men's field events were freshman Anthony Lombardo in the pole vault (2nd, 3.95 meters), sophomore Ben Euwer in the shot put (1st, 12.12 meters), and Thomas Bright in the weight throw (1st, 12.47 meters).

Emory's top finishers in the men's track events were senior Alex Greenhouse 55-meter dash (3rd, 6.64 seconds), freshman Alex Riddle in the 400-meter dash (7th, 55.28 seconds), sophomore Manvir Heir in the mile run (8th, 4:38.95), freshman Eric Lawson in the 3,000-meter run (4th, 9:51.88) and senior Steve Dry in the 55-meter hurdles (3rd, 7.94 seconds).

On the women's side of the meet, Emory sophomore Lauren Attiah recorded her second NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the season in the triple jump, reaching a distance of 11.25 meters for the top-finish in the event.  Attiah was also Emory's top finisher in the long jump (2nd, 5.28 meters) and her height of 1.50 meters in the high jump placed her second to teammate Theresa Ford (1.59 meters).

Other top finishers in the field events for Emory were Paulina Belsky in the pole vault (3rd, 2.60 meters) and Kara Cutrona in the shot put (1st, 10.94 meters) and the weight throw (1st, 10.87 meters).

In the track events, Emory had a trio of first-place finishers - senior Mary Crystal Spence in the 55-meter dash (7.54 seconds), freshman Kaele Leonard in 400-meter dash (1:03.18) and sophomore Jasmine McCullough in the 55-meter hurdles (8.60 seconds).  The Eagles' other top finishers included freshman Christina Cardy in the 800-meter run (6th, 2:35.46), and sophomore Rachel Borrelli in the 3,000-meter run (9th, 12:03.55).
