Emory Track & Field Provides Strong Showing at War Eagle Invitational
With one last weekend to get ready for the University Athletic
Association (UAA) Championship, a number of Eagles turned in strong
performances at the War Eagle Invitational, hosted by Auburn
University.
With a limited squad in action, Emory senior Alex
Greenhouse recorded the team’s only provisional
qualifying time of the meet, running a mark of 53.13 seconds in the
400-meter hurdles, good for a third-place finish in the
event. Greenhouse also finished 25th in the
100-meter dash with a time of 11.02 seconds.
Other top Emory men’s performers at the meet included
Ben Euwer in the hammer throw (44.03 meters) and
the javelin throw (45.35 meters), Brad Pruente in
the long jump(6.24 meters), Chike Brennen in the
200-meter dash (24.19 seconds) and the 400-meter dash (52.45),
Stephen Ellwood in the 1,500-meter run (4:00.58),
Tim Halinski in the 5,000-meter run (15:57.31),
Everett Bryant in the 110-meter hurdles (15.38
seconds) and Xavier Fowler in the triple jump
(13.87 meters).
For the women, sophomore Alix Dyer led the way
with a time of 12.37 seconds in the 100-meter dash, just seven
hundredths of a second shy of a provisional qualifying time.
She also recorded a mark of 25.44 seconds in the 200-meter dash,
.19 seconds short of the provisional time.
Other top finishers for the Emory women included Melanie
Levy in the 400-meter dash (1:00.51), Jasmine
McCullough in the 100-meter hurdles (15.31 seconds) and
Charlotte Diggs in the 400-meter hurdles
(1:05.92).
Emory will now turn its attention towards the UAA Championships,
which will be held next Saturday and Sunday in St. Louis, MO.
