Attiah Earns UAA Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors
Emory University sophomore Lauren Attiah was
named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week
for women’s track and field, after recording an NCAA
provisional qualifying mark at the Cardinal Opener last
weekend.
Attiah’s provisional mark came in the triple jump, where her
distance of 11.41 meters was good for second place among the 12
competitors in the event. She also finished second out of 13
athletes in the long jump with a distance of 5.25 meters, her best
mark of the season. Attiah rounded out her performance with a
season-best throw of 7.93 meters in the shot put, good for a
26th-place finish. She scored a total of 16 points
at the Cardinal Opener, helping the Eagles to a third-place team
finish.
This is the first time this season that Attiah has earned the
honor, and the fifth time during her collegiate career.
Attiah and the rest of the Eagles will return to action this
Saturday at the Carolina Classic, hosted by the University of North
Carolina.
